Lace up your walking shoes and step into the heart of Italy’s Veneto region, where the UNESCO-listed Prosecco Hills offer a journey that blends natural beauty, cultural richness, and a deep sense of wellbeing. The Prosecco region is beautifully set in the undulating foothills of the Dolomites, where the dramatic alpine landscapes begin to soften into vine-covered slopes and wooded ridgelines. This natural transition zone, between mountain and plain, creates a unique microclimate ideal for growing Glera grapes—the foundation of the world-famous Prosecco Superiore DOCG. The Prosecco Hills Trail or Cammino delle Colline del Prosecco connects the historic towns of Vittorio Veneto and Valdobbiadene along a trail that winds through rolling vineyards, forested ridges, and hilltop villages inviting you to slow down and reconnect with nature and tradition. Walk at your own pace past ciglioni, iconic narrow terraced vineyards and panoramic viewpoints, pausing in timeless places like Serravalle and Pieve di Soligo to soak up the atmosphere and enjoy moments of quiet reflection. This walking trail offers a deep dive into a beautiful corner of the Veneto region, passing ancient watermills like Molinetto della Croda, panoramic ridgelines, and hidden valleys covered in vineyards that produce the world-famous sparkling wine. Whether you're travelling solo or with kindred spirits, this is a restorative escape—an invitation to breathe deeply, move mindfully, and embrace the joy of walking well.

Arrive in the charming town of Vittorio Veneto, nestled in the gentle foothills of the Dolomites, where history and nature come together in perfect harmony. Once the site of the pivotal WWI Battle of Vittorio Veneto, today this peaceful town invites exploration through its two historic districts—Serravalle, with its elegant Gothic palaces and winding cobbled streets, and Ceneda, home to a serene cathedral and leafy piazzas. Framed by vineyard-covered hills and close to the renowned Prosecco wine region, it’s the perfect starting point for a relaxed walking holiday. Take time to wander the quiet laneways, sip a local vintage, or stretch your legs on nearby trails and lakeside paths before the journey ahead.

Begin your walk in the historic heart of Vittorio Veneto, where cobbled streets and lively piazzas offer a warm introduction to the charm of northern Italy. From here, the trail leads you gently into the lush Prosecco Hills, where vine-laced slopes stretch as far as the eye can see. As you gain a little elevation, take in sweeping views over the rolling countryside dotted with stone villages and steeples. The pace is unhurried, with plenty of time to appreciate the rhythm of rural life—farmers tending their vines, the scent of fresh herbs in the air, and the quiet hum of nature all around. Pause at a local winery to enjoy a glass of crisp Prosecco and taste seasonal regional fare, before continuing to the hamlet of Arfanta. Surrounded by hills and sky, it’s the perfect place to slow down, breathe deeply, and savour the beauty of this timeless landscape. Distance 12.5km/7.8mi Ascent +630m/2060ft, Descent -410m/1345ft

As you set off, the trail opens up to sweeping views of the rolling Prosecco countryside, where vineyards tumble down hillsides and stone cottages nestle among olive groves and wildflowers. This peaceful stretch winds through quiet lanes and sun-dappled paths, immersing you in the natural beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage-listed landscape. You'll pass by small chapels and family-run wineries, where the aroma of fermenting grapes hints at the region's proud winemaking heritage—and tasting opportunities are always close at hand. The path gently leads you to Pieve di Soligo, a vibrant town with a rich history and strong ties to the Prosecco tradition. Stroll its scenic riverside promenade, admire the elegant cathedral, and soak up the relaxed energy of local life. With its blend of nature, culture, and wine, today’s walk is a joyful taste of everything that makes this region so special. Distance 18km/11.25mi Ascent +360m/1180ft, Descent -590m/1935ft

From the town centre, the trail gently ascends through rolling hills covered in vines, offering sweeping views of the surrounding countryside. Along the way, you’ll pass rustic farmhouses, quiet chapels, and small churches that speak to the area’s deep-rooted traditions. This is a landscape shaped by generations of winemakers, where every turn reveals another postcard-perfect scene. Your journey leads to the village of Col San Martino, known for its striking medieval bell tower and rich wine heritage. Here, take time to admire the terraced hills that define the region’s charm—and perhaps stop in at a family-run winery to taste the local Prosecco straight from the source. Optional wine tasting at 4pm - must be pre-booked. Please ask our team for details. Distance 14km/8.75mi Ascent +580m/1900ft, Descent -540m/1770ft

Starting in the village of Col San Martino, today’s walk leads you through the heart of the Prosecco Superiore DOCG region, toward the well-known town of Valdobbiadene. The route follows quiet country roads and trails across gentle hills lined with carefully tended vineyards. Along the way, you’ll pass small rural hamlets, historic churches like the Romanesque San Vigilio chapel, and a number of family-run wineries where you can stop for a tasting. As you get closer to Valdobbiadene, the countryside gradually gives way to the buzz of town life, with welcoming piazzas and local eateries. Valdobbiadene is where many of the top vineyards and producers are located, especially those on the steep, hand-tended slopes known as the Rive. While not officially designated as the capital, Valdobbiadene is widely recognised as the heart and soul of the Prosecco region, especially by wine lovers and those in the industry. As with all of our trips it is important that you are well prepared. We suggest that you undertake regular exercise – swimming, cycling, and jogging, two to three times a week for three months prior to your departure.
